By the end of this project (September 2019), we will hear youth advising each other to do positive, substance-free activities, and saying that it's ok not to drink. We will feel increased student and community support for decreasing underage drinking, and hear more conversations leading to a deeper community understanding of mental health. By the end of this project, schools will have support in offering a wide range of evidence based prevention programs. Drinking will no longer be the (perceived) norm for underage kids and peer pressure to underage drink will not exist. Kids won't need designated drivers to get home from parties because alcohol will not be a part of them. The ultimate goal is for Chickasaw County to be below the State average for underage drinking rates. The consequences, including self-harming and suicides, will be prevented. The smart choice will be the easy choice.
This vision was not created by one person from one organization. Coalition members representing several sector groups pooled their beliefs together. Each member contributes new and unique ideas and beliefs to our organization and we are so thankful for the time each person devotes to promoting health choices and healthy lifestyles!
Special thanks to all our contributors and supporters!
