On the last day of May, we received word that the strategic plan that myself and numerous coalition members had been working on since late November was approved. I was very relieved and excited about this; creating a detailed plan that would direct our group through the next 4 years was no easy task! The hard work paid off as we feel confident that our planning and deliberation will make for greater success during and by the end of this project. We plan to carry out 4 environmental strategies, cost-effective activities to impact the population as a whole by changing norms, rules, and access/availability around alcohol; and 1 individual strategy, a proven-effective educational program focused on changing the behavior of individuals. These activities will only create long-lasting, positive changes with input and involvement from a variety persons and groups from across the County. We encourage all community members to attend coalition meetings held on the second Wednesday of each month at noon so they can learn how they can contribute to a healthier Chickasaw County. Meetings are held at St. John's School at 823 W. Main St. in New Hampton with online or mobile phone options available.
